Styles / Icons - Styles

This article deals with the first three sections of this window.

Please see Styles / Icons - Tick Marks and Scaling for the other two sections.

These defaults depict how items you draw on the map are Styled.

If you aren't familiar with Styles, please see this section: Styles

Waypoint

This is how individual waypoints will be drawn on the map.

Choose the icon, and the Waypoint Style.

Routepoint

Route are made up of an ordered list of waypoints called Routepoints. Routes are normally drawn by a user or imported from a GPX file.

Choose if you want Icons displayed or not as you draw a route, and if so, which icon. If you select to show an icon, you will also need to set a Waypoint Style

Also select the Line Style that you wish to see the route drawn with.

Tracks

Tracks are made up of an ordered list of waypoints called Trackpoints.

This works the same as Routepoints, but allows you to have different settings for Tracks from Routes.

Using these settings, you can customise OMN to draw data as you would like to see it. Many users for instance choose quite a large icon from individual waypoints, small icons on route, and due to the amount of trackpoints normally in a track, elect to not show trackpoints on a track, but just draw the lines connecting them.

All of these defaults are applied as items are drawn on the map or imported into OMN.

For example, if you have the Default waypoint icon set to a 'Ball Blue' as per the screenshot below, and add a waypoint to the map it will be depicted with a blue ball icon. Next, save that GPX file, the GPX file contains one waypoint with the symbol set to 'Ball Blue'. This GPX file is independent of the Settings. If you now close the GPX file, change your default to 'Ball Red' and re-load the GPX file, you will still see a blue ball on the map, as that is what is in the GPX file. If you now add a further waypoint to the map, it will now be a red ball as you have changed the default.
